✎My School Year✎

Hi everyone!
What's going on?

Finally this school year came to an end!
I'm quite happy about it because I've been studying really hard lately and I started to feel under pressure, but I got really good marks and I'm really glad and proud of myself.
This school year has been pretty interesting and I've started to study new subjects like philosophy which I found really interesting and physics which I found a bit difficult at the beginning but then I found out that I'm pretty good at it.
Then as every year our school offered us the chance to go abroad for a week to study a foreign language. This year we went to the beautiful city of Edinburgh! I enjoyed this city very much!
We stayed in host families which were quite nice. I learnt lots of new things and met new friends.
We also visited lots of places such as castles and museums.
Then last month I also took a French exam to certificate B1 level. It wasn't really easy but I gave my best and now I'm waiting for the results so finger crossed!
Now it's the time for some relax and I also hope to do something interesting this summer.
I wish to go to Milan and go to the Expo. Have you heard about it?

That's all for now.
Let me know how was your school year.
I hope to write again really soon.

Kisses,
Paola. xx

St. George's Day ✚

St. George's Day

St. George's Day is the feast day of St. George which is the Patron Saint of England.
This feast is celebrated on April 23rd but it's not an official holiday in England or in the UK.
In 1222 the Council of Oxford declared April 23rd to be St. George's Day,but St. George became
the Patron Saint of England in 1348.
Saint George was born in AD 270 in the Eastern Turkey, then he moved to Palestina with his mother and he became a Roman soldier. Even though he never went to England he is the Patron Saint.
Some of the symbols of St. George's Day are the flag with the red cross on a white background, the English Red rose, the three lions and more.
Saint George's day is also important in England because on April 23rd was born Shakespeare, one of the most important writers of the whole history.

✈Wonders of the world

Hi there!
Today I would talk about two of the wonders of the world that I like most.

One of new wonders of the World is The Statue of Liberty. Located in the middle of New York Harbor in Manhattan, it was a gift of international friendship from the people of France to the United States. The 93 meter tall statue was designed by Federic Auguste Bartholdi, and it was dedicated to the USA on the 28th of October, 1886. The statue represents a female figure,Libertas, the Roman Goddess of freedom. She holds a torch, and a tablet upon which is inscribed the 4th of July 1776, the date of the American Declaration of Independence. At her feet are broken chains, symbolizing previous oppression that is no longer existent. The statue is an icon of freedom welcoming the immigrants arriving from around the world.

A natural wonder of the world is the Grand Canyon which is situated in the United States in the state of Arizona. It's a canyon carved by the Colorado River.  The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long and up 18 miles wide. For thousands of years this area has been inhabited by Native Americans.
The first European known to have viewed the Grand Canyon was Garcia Lopez de Cardenas from Spain.
The Gran Canyon could be a bit dangerous because of the climate that reaches about 40 degrees in the summer and that's why in the past a lot of people visiting the Grand Canyon died.

That's all for now.
See you soon.

☣ Saint Patrick's Day ☣

Hello!
Today I would tell you something about Saint Patrick's day.

In Ireland Saint Patrick's Day is the most important feast day of the year, but it is also celebrated by the Irish diaspora around the world especially in Great Britain, Canada, Australia, the United States, Argentina and New Zealand. Saint Patrick's Day became an official Christian feast ady during the seventeenth century and today it is celebrated on March 17.
This feast began as a religious feast for the patron saint of Ireland, but during the following centuries has become an international festival celebrated with parades, dancing, special food and a lot of green.
In fact, on Saint Patrick's Day people wear green clothes,  accessories and they also wear shamrocks which are the symbol of Ireland and, according to legend, Saint Patrick used the three-leaved shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish. Another important symbol is the triple spiral symbols which also appears at many ancient megalithic sites in Ireland.
What we actually know about Saint Patrick comes from the Declaration which was written by Patrick himself. It is believed he was born in Roman Britain in the fourth century into a Romano-British family.
His father was a Deacon (ministry in the Christian church) and his grand father a priest in the Christian church. According to the Declaration,at the age of sixteen,he was taken as a slave by Irish raiders.
Tradition holds that he died on March 17.

That's all for today.
See you soon!

Abbreviations!

Hi there! I'm back!
Today I want to write about the 'abbreviations'.
So I'll write some sentences with the abbreviations and then I'll write the same sentences without them.
Today at school our English teacher showed us a 12-year-old girl's composition and I foud it so funny but at the same time I was so confused because there were too many abbreviations so I couldn't understand nothing.
By the way now I try to write some sentences.

-2day I woke up L8.
-Today I woke up late.

-My ps went in London 4 hols.
-My parents went in London for holiday.

-Close the windows b4 u go out.
-Close the windows before you go out.

That's all for now! Tell me what you think about the abbreviations in a comment.
Ilysm! ;)
